Job Summary
We are hiring a Security Engineer to take full ownership of security across the iPayBTC platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who can identify risks before they become incidents, respond decisively when they do, and help build systems that make the platform safer over time. You will work closely with Engineering and DevOps to embed security into everything we build from APIs and infrastructure to wallets and third-party integrations.
Job Description/ Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Platform Security Posture
- Own and continuously improve the security posture of iPayBTC systems
- Identify vulnerabilities across: (APls and backend services Infrastructure and cloud environments, Bitcoin wallets, Third-party integrations)
- Conduct regular penetration testing and simulate real-world attack scenarios
- Ensure vulnerabilities are tracked, prioritized, and resolved completely
2. Bitcoin & Financial System Security
- Secure Lightning Network and on-chain transaction flows
- Identify risks related to: (Key management and wallet architecture ) Transaction integrity and settlement
- Work with engineering to enforce best practices for handling funds securely
3. Dependency & Supply Chain Security
- Maintain a complete inventory of all: (Packages and libraries , External services and integrations)
- Monitor and respond to emerging vulnerabilities affecting our stack
- Proactively recommend upgrades or replacements before risks materialize
4. Incident Response & Recovery
- Lead response for all security incidents: (Detection Containment Investigation Recovery)
- Perform root cause analysis and produce clear incident reports
- Implement fixes to prevent recurrence
5. Security Culture & Engineering Enablement
- Drive security awareness across the team
- Run phishing simulations and security drills
- Guide engineers on: (Secure coding practices, API and system security, Secrets management and access control)
- Ensure security is integrated into the development lifecycle
6. Security Tooling & Monitoring
- Own and improve security tooling, including:
- (Vulnerability scanners, Logging and monitoring systems, Alerting and incident detection tools)
- Define and implement security controls and standards
7. Proactive Security Improvement
- Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen iPayBTC’s security posture
- Stay ahead of emerging threats, attack techniques, and vulnerabilities
- Propose and implement improvements before risks materialize
- Regularly review systems, processes, and architecture to ensure evolving security resilience
Requirements :
Must Have:
- 2+ years experience in a security-focused role
- Hands-on experience in penetration testing / offensive security
- Strong understanding of: (OWASP Top 10, AP! security, Privilege escalation and credential abuse)
- Experience with incident response and root cause analysis
- Solid knowledge of infrastructure security and secure system design
- Ability to translate vulnerabilities into clear, actionable fixes
- Experience managing third-party and supply chain risks
- Experience in fintech, crypto, digital payment or high-risk financial systems
- Experience with security compliance frameworks, ISO
27001, NIST, SOC 2
Remuneration: NGN 300,000 to 350,000
